description: The high incidence of child sexual abuse, as indicated by data from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) in 2023, which reported 3,000 cases out of 3,547 complaints of child violence, underscores the vulnerability of children who are inexperienced and lack adequate sexual understanding. Consequently, training to prevent sexual abuse is crucial. This study aims to test the effectiveness of group counseling services using animated video media in enhancing personal safety skills among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Gerem I in Cilegon City. This research employs a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consists of 10 students who have low to moderate understanding of personal safety skills based on pretest results. The students were provided with group counseling services using animated video media over six sessions, focusing on three aspects: recognize, resist, and report. The research results indicate a significant improvement in students' personal safety skills understanding after the intervention, evidenced by the posttest mean score of 82.00 being greater than the pretest mean score of 55.60, and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test yielding a significance value of 0.005. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted since the significance value is < 0.05. In conclusion, the effectiveness of group counseling services combined with animated video media has been proven to be an effective strategy for enhancing the personal safety skills of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Gerem I in Cilegon City. BK (guidance and counseling) teachers are recommended to use the findings of this study as a reference in their BK programs at schools. Schools are also expected to support efforts to enhance students' understanding of personal safety skills given the prevalence of sexual abuse cases. Future research is recommended to develop group counseling services with various media, methods, and techniques for more optimal results.
