Abstract

This study aims to (1) understand the process of implementing the activities playing blocks Cuisenaire in improving the ability of counting children and (2) to increase the ability of counting children in kindergarten PGRI 1 Kota Serang Banten after the implementation of activities playing blocks Cuisenaire is based on the observation of pre-study found 28% of children aged 4-5 years in kindergarten PGRI 1 Kota Serang Banten ability membilangnya began to grow an average of only 3 out of 10 students who membilangnya abilities begin to develop, it can be seen because children are not able to know the concept much and little, have not been able counting many objects 1-10, have not been able to recognize the concept of numbers, yet is able to recognize the symbol of numbers, yet is able to recognize numbers and quantity relation to additional learning in the learning process that takes place. This research is an action research (PT) consisting of two cycles, wherein each cycle consists of the following stages: preparation, implementation, observation, and reflection. Subjects were children aged 4-5 years group A TK PGRI 1 Kota Serang Banten totaling 10 students, 5 students female and 5 male students. Guidelines used are observation sheets, sheets interviews, and field record sheet. Data analysis techniques used are qualitative and quantitative data, based on the results of data analysis showed that (1) the process of implementing the activities playing blocks Cuisenaire has three stages: introducing a toy and describe the activities, implementation, evaluation (2) ability to count developing child significantly after the implementation of activities Cuisenaire playing blocks. The results of the counting capability percentage of children in the first cycle is equal to 44% and the percentage of children's ability to count at the end of the second cycle of 76%. The results of data analysis showed that the application of the beam Cuisenaire play activities can develop the ability to count children aged 4-5 years in kindergarten PGRI 1 Kota Serang, Banten.
