Abstract

Listening skills of children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten Kemala Bhayangkari 4 Serang is still low , it is because less interesting methods used in the learning process in the classroom which is to much using books for children. This is proven by the many children who lack attention and concentrate in learning activities in the classroom. The method used is classroom action research using data analysis , data reduction , data presentation , and the conclusion reached as much as two cycles in the first cycle of 8 times as much as the second cycle of meetings and 4 meetings. The purpose of this research is expected to rise in the child's listening skills using Whole Language method in which there are elements of listening, writing , reading and speaking reached by children. At its core activities carried out by providing measures through Whole Language method and observed in every cycle. Based on the research results obtained that the listening skills of children aged 5-6 years through Whole language method with the results of this research note that the initial conditions of 23% then in the first cycle increased to 50 % , in the second cycle has increased significantly to 78 % and experience the success of the indicators that have been targeted. Based on the results of data that has been obtained , it can be concluded that the research undertaken by the application behasil Whole Language method can improve listening skills of children aged 5-6 years in kindergarten Kemala Bhayangkari 4 Serang .
