Abstract

The objective of this study are to (1) determine the process of implementing the activities fun cooking in improving science capabilities of children and (2) to increase the development of science abilities of children in TK Islam Citra Mandiri after the implementation of activities fun cooking. Based on the observation of prestudy found 25.84% of children aged 5-6 years in TK Islam Citra Mandiri science ability began to grow an average of only 3 out of 15 students who began developing science ability, it can be seen because children are not able to explain or tell the difference two objects, has not been able to participate actively in the learning process that takes place, and most importantly the children in class is easy to feel despair in the learning process. This research is a class room research action (PTK), which consists of two cycles, where in each cycle consists of the following stages: planning, acting, observation and reflection. subjects were children aged 5-6 years group B2 TK Islam Citra Mandiri Serang Banten, which has 15 students, 7 female students and 8 male students. guidelines used are observation sheets, sheets interviews and field note. Technical analysis of the data used is the qualitative and quantitative analysis, based on the results of data analysis showed that (1) the process of implementing the activities fun cooking has four stages: preparation, implementation, prsentasi and evaluation, in fun cooking activities children can creativity according to what they want, to train children to wait their turn, can train children to distinguish and mix colors, to train children to get to know the taste, and to train children in the forms, the cooking fun activities children also can play a role. because this activity is very interesting and enjoyable so that children are interested to participate in these activities; (2) the ability of the child science evolved significantly after the implementation of activities fun cooking. The results of the percentage of science skill development of children in the first cycle that is equal to 41.445% and prsentase science skill development of children at the end of the second cycle of 70.25%. The result showed that the implementation of the activities of cooking fun science can develop the skills 5-6 years old children in TK Islam Citra Mandiri Serang Banten.
