Sihabudin, M.Si., Pembimbing II: Teguh Iman Prasetya, S.E., M.Si., Program Ilmu Komunikasi. Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik. Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. 2016. Penelitian ini membahas tentang bagaimana pola pencarian informasi anggota Vespa Antique Club (VAC) dalam modifikasi skuter Vespa. Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah tidak semua anggota VAC mengerti mengenai otomotif juga modifikasi, dan informasi akan modifikasi merupakan suatu kebutuhan yang harus terpenuhi. Kebutuhan akan informasi muncul membuat anggota VAC bertindak untuk mencari informasi baru. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pola pencarian informasi yang dilakukan oleh anggota VAC dalam modifikasi skuter Vespa. Pola pencarian informasi tersebut mencakup strategi pencarian informasi seperti apa yang dilakukan oleh anggota VAC, serta untuk mengetahui informasi apa saja yang paling dicari oleh anggota VAC dalam modifikasi skuter Vespa. Peneliti menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif dalam penelitian ini. Narasumber dalam penelitian ini adalah pendiri kelompok VAC, Ketua VAC regional Cimahi, anggota VAC yang memodifikasi skuter Vespa serta beberapa orang yang terkait dalam modifikasi skuter Vespa. Teori yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah teori kebutuhan oleh Abraham dan didukung oleh model pencarian informasi karya Donohew dan Tipton. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pencarian informasi yang dilakukan anggota VAC menggunakan strategi fokus sempit, hanya mempercayakan pada satu sumber informasi yang dianggap relevan yaitu mekanik. Pola pencarian informasi pada proses modifikasi skuter Vespa menghasilkan informasi penting yang paling sering dikomunikasikan. This research discusses about how information search pattern Vespa Antique Club members (VAC) in the modification of the Vespa scooter. The problem in this research is that not all members of the VAC understand the automotive, modification, and will modify the information is a requirement that must be met. The need for information appears to make VAC members act to seek new information. The purpose of this study was to determine the pattern of information search conducted by members of the VAC in a modification of the Vespa scooter. The search pattern information includes information such as what search strategies carried out by members of VAC, and to know what information is the most sought after by members of the VAC in modifying the Vespa scooter. Researchers used a qualitative approach in this study. Informant in this research is a founding member of the VAC, Chairman of the regional VAC Cimahi, member VAC modifies Vespa scooters and several people involved in the modification of the Vespa scooter. The theory used in this research is the theory of needs by Abraham and supported by information search model works Donohew and Tipton. The results showed that the search for information by members of the VAC using a narrowly focused strategy, just rely on one source of information considered relevant, namely mechanics. Search pattern modification process information on Vespa scooters yield important information most often communicated.
