Abstract

The study focused on the influence of task-based learning towards students writing ability at the eight year students at MTs Al-Hikmah Cipeucang in 2014/2015 academic year and the objective of the research was to know whether there is an influence of task-based learning towards students writing ability at the eight year students at MTs Al-Hikmah Cipeucang in 2014/2015 academic years. The population of the research was the eight year students at MTs Al-Hikmah Cipeucang in 2014/2015 academic year and the research took all from the total number of population as the sample because the population was less than 100. The researcher used the quantitative research in quasi-experimental design. The process of the research spends two weeks on November 2014. It was done at MTs Al-Hikmah Cipeucang and took the eight year students as the objects. At the first time, the through three steps, they are; pre-test, treatment and post-test. There is any significant influence of using Task-based learning towards students’ writing ability. The total score of experimental class has increased from 1724 in pre-test to 2488 in post-test, while the control got increase from 1515 to 1997. Thus it can be seen that the control class improvement was not as significance as the experimental class. It can be seen from the data that the mean of experimental class is 20.65, while the mean of control group is 13.39. Through computing t-test, the researcher got t-count (3.015) is higher than t-table (2.000). So, the alternative hypothesis of the research is accepted. It can be concluded that there is significant influence of applying Task-based learning towards students’ writing ability.
