Abstract
The objective of this research was to see the influence of clustering technique in teaching writing descriptive text at the seventh grade of MTs Al-Hidayah Kota Tangerang. The sample of this research was seventh grade of MTs Al-Hidayah Kota Tangerang. They were VIIA class as experimental class and VIIC as control class. Each class consisted of 32 students. The method used in this research was a quantitative method. In addition, the design of this research was true experimental research by using pre-test and post-test. The instrument of this research was a written test, to score the students’ descriptive writing on pre-test and post-test the researcher used rubric assessment from Brown (2007).The result of this research was clustering technique has a positive effect for students’ writing descriptive text. It can be seen from the calculation of tcount and ttable. The tcount is higher than ttable. The result of tcount is 8.514, since the ttable in the degree of significance 5% is 1.998. It shows that the comparasion of ttable and tcount is 1.998 < 8.514. To sum up, t-test is higher than ttable so clustering technique is giving influence to students’ descriptive writing.

| Additional Information: | Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat suatu pengaruh dari teknik clustering pada mengajar menulis teks deskriptif di kelas tujuh MTs Al-Hidayah Kota Tangerang. Sample dari penelitian ini adalah siswa/I kelas VII MTs Al-Hidayah Kota Tangerang. Siswa/I kelas VIIA sebagai kelas eksperimen sedangkan siswa/I kelas VIIC sebagai kelas control, dimana masing-masih kelas terdiri dari 32 siswa/I/ Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif. Selain itu, desain penelitian ini adalah true-eksperimen dengan menggunakan desain pre-test dan post-test. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa teknik clustering memberikan dampak positif pada menulis deskriptif teks pada siswa. Hal itu dapat terlihat dari perhitungan antara thitung dan ttabel. Hasil dari thitung tersebut adalah 8.52, sedangkan hasil ttabel pada tungkat signifikasi 5% adalah 1.998. Perbandingan hasil perhitungan tersebut adalah 1.998 < 8.52. Kesimpulannya, tthitung nilainya lebih besar dibandingkan ttabel, sehingga teknik clustering efektif digunakan dalam menulis karangan deskriptif. | |||||||||
