Abstract
Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di MTs Negeri 1 Kota Serang tahun ajaran 2017/2018 yang bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan self concept siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kombinasi (mixed method) dengan model penggabungan KUAN-kual dan desain concurrent embedded design. Penelitian ini melibatkan dua kelas yang terdiri dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII MTs Negeri 1 Kota Serang. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII C sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII B sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa instrument tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, instrument non tes berupa skala self concept, lembar observasi, pedoman wawancara, dokumentasi serta peneliti itu sendiri. Hasil penelitian memberikan kesimpulan bahwa pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas eksperimen lebih baik dari kelas kontrol, pencapaian dan peningkatan self concept siswa kelas eksperimen tidak lebih baik dari kelas kontrol. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan tidak terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning dengan self concept siswa.

| Additional Information: | This research was conducted at MTs Negeri 1 Kota Serang in the academic year 2017/2018 which aimed to see the effect of problem based learning to student’s solve mathematical problems ability and self concept. The method used in this research is method of combination (mixed method) with incorporation of QUANTITATIVE-qualitative and concurrent embedded design. The study involved two classes of experimental class and control class. The population of this research is all students in grade VIII MTs Negeri 1 Kota Serang. Sample were class VIII C an experimental class and VIII B an control class. The instrument used in this study a mathematical problem solving ability test instrument, non-test instruments in the form of scale of self concept, observation sheets, interview guides, documentation as well as the researchers itself. The result of the study concludes that the ultimate achievement and increase the mathematical problem solving ability experimental class is better than the control class, the ultimate achievement and increase self concept experimental class is not better than the control class. It shows that there is a effect of problem based learning on student’s mathematical problem solving ability and then is no effect of problem based learning on student’s self concept. | |||||||||
