Abstract

Additional Information: This research was conducted at SMPN 6 Kota Serang in in the second semester in the academic year 2018/2019 which aimed to see the effect of Problem Based Learning (PBL) toward Mathematical Communications Ability and Self Regulated Learning for Junior High School Students. The method used quasi-experimental design of Non equivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population is all students in grade VIII SMPN 6 Kota Serang. The sample was conducted through purposive sampling technique, class VIII E (experimental class) which obtained the treatment of Problem Based Learning model and VIII F (control class) which obtained the treatment of ekspository learning model. The instrument used mathematical communications ability test instrument, and non-test form scale of self regulated learning. Based on the hypothesis, it can be concluded that (1) The achievement of mathematical communications ability of the students who were given the learning with Problem Based Learning (PBL) model is better than the students who were given the learning with ekspository model, (2) Improvement of mathematical communications ability between the students who get Problem Based Learning model is better than students who get ekspository learning model (3) Achievement of self-regulated learning of students who are given learning with Problem Based Learning model is better than the students who were given the learning with ekspository model, (4) Improvement of self-regulated learning between students who received learning with Problem Based Learning model is is better than students who get ekspository learning model.
