Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Predict Observe Explain (POE) terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas VIII pada tema menjaga pernapasan manusia. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Cibeber tahun ajaran 2017/2018 pada bulan Mei 2018. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian The Matching-Only Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. Pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas VIII E sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII F sebagai kelas kontrol, setiap sampel kelas terdiri dari 28 peserta didik. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah tes uraian kemampuan berpikir kritis dan lembar observasi untuk keterlaksanaan model. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada kelas kontrol yaitu sebesar 52,5 dengan kategori sangat kurang kritis sedangkan kelas eksperimen yaitu 75 dengan kategori cukup kritis dan nilai N-Gain kelas kontrol sebesar 0,13 sedangkan kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,54. Hasil uji hipotesis diperoleh nilai signifikansi < nilai α (0,000 < 0,05) maka H0 ditolak. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran Predict Observe Explain (POE) terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas VIII pada tema menjaga organ pernapasan manusia di SMP Negeri 1 Cibeber.

| Additional Information: | This reaserch designed to find out the effect of the Predict Observe Explain learning (POE) model on the critical thinking ability of grade VIII student on the theme of maintaining human breathing. This study was conducted in SMP Negeri 1 Cibeber in academic year 2017/2018 on May 2018. The method used in this study was quasi- experimental with the research design of The Matching-Only Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. The sampling technique is done purposive sampling, the sample of this study consisted of two classes, grade VIII E as experimental class and VIII F as control class. The sample consisted of 28 student on each class.. The tehniques of data collections is using essay test of and research instrument used is a critical thinking skills test, in the form of a description test critical thinking ability and observation sheet for the implementation of the model. The results showed the average value of students' critical thinking ability in the control class was 52.5 with the very less critical category while the experimental class was 75 with the enough category critical thinking ability and the N-Gain value of the control class was 0.13 while the experimental class was 0.54. The results of the t test for post-test obtained the significance value <α value (0.000 <0.05) then H0 is rejected. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there is an effect of using the Predict Observe Explain (POE) learning model on the critical thinking ability of grade VIII students on the theme of maintaining human breathing organs in SMP Negeri 1 Cibeber. | |||||||||
