Abstract

Peeloffgelmaskshavebecomeatrendinthefieldofbeautyasafacialskincare.Utilizationofmangosteenrindextractisthoughttobeabletoprovidemorefunctiononthemaskasitshighlevelsofantioxidant.Thisstudydiscussestheoptimumformulationofantioxidantpeeloffgelmaskwithmangosteenrindethanolextract.MangosteenrindwasobtainedfromthemarketintheSouthTangerangareaandthenextractedusing96%ethanolasthesolventbymaceration.Peeloffgelmaskpreparationisformulatedwithextractconcentrationsof1%,2%and4%.StabilitytestintheformofanalysisofpH,viscosity,drytime,andhomogenationwascarriedoutforfourweeks.Antioxidantanalysiswascarriedouttodetectflavonoid,saponinsandtannins.Theresultsshowedthattheextractcontainedflavonoids,saponinsandtanninswithfreeradicalscavengingvaluesof16.10%.Theoptimumformulationofpeeloffgelmaskiswith2%extractbecauseithasanacidicpH,aviscosityvalueof8025cps,athick texture, and has a drying time of about 14 minutes.
