Abstract
Sikap merupakan salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi kegiatan belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana karakteristik sikap siswa SMP dalam pembelajaran matematika. Karakteristik sikap siswa SMP dalam pembelajaran matematika yang diperoleh, didasarkan pada faktor instrumen penelitian dari Mutohir, Lowrie, dan Patahuddin (2018). Adapun faktor instrumen penelitian tersebut adalah faktor presentasi guru, faktor ketertarikan pada matematika, dan faktor nilai matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini melibatkan 20 siswa kelas VIII di SMP Negeri 3 kota Cilegon tahun pelajaran 2018/2019. Sebagai metode penelitian kualitatif, peneliti menjadi instrumen utama dalam penelitiannya. Selain instrumen utama, dibutuhkan pula instrumen pembantu yang dapat melengkapi dan membandingkan data yang diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumen. Dalam menganalisis data kualitatif ini ada 4 tahap, yaitu (1) reduksi data, (2) kategorisasi, (3) sintesisasi, dan (4) menyusun ‘hipotesis kerja’. Selain itu, digunakan triangulasi sumber dan triangulasi teknik untuk menetapkan keabsahan data penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa: Terdapat tiga kelompok yang dapat mendeskripsikan bagaimana karakteristik sikap siswa SMP dalam pembelajaran matematika yaitu (1) tipe sikap kuat, (2) tipe sikap lemah, dan (3) tipe sikap biasa.

| Additional Information: | Attitude is one of the factors that can affect the students in learning activities. The aim of this study is to describe how is the characteristics of students’ attitudes in Junior High School towards mathematics learning. The characteristics of students' attitudes In Junior High School towards mathematics learning are obtained based on the factor of research instrument from Mutohir, Lowrie, and Patahuddin (2018). The factors of the research instruments are the factors of teacher presentation, the factors of mathematics interest, and the factors mathematics value. This study used qualitative research method. This study involved 20 students of eighth grade in SMP Negeri 3 Kota Cilegon in academic year 2018/2019. As a qualitative research method, the researchers became the main instrument in this research. Beside the main instruments, there are supporting instruments are needed that can complement and compare the data obtained through observation, interview and document. In analyzing qualitative data there are 4 stages, namely (1) data reduction, (2) categorization, (3) synthesis, and (4) compiling a 'working hypothesis'. In addition, the source triangulation and the technique triangulation were used to determine the validity of research data. The results of this study concluded that: There are three types that can describe the characteristics of students’ attitudes in Junior High School towards mathematics learning, namely (1) the type of strong attitude, (2) the type of weak attitude, and (3) the type of normal attitude. | |||||||||
