Abstract
The study is based on the phenomena that students have difficulties in writing descriptive text, students could not describe thing, place, animal and person detail because the students do not have any ideas when they are asked to describe thing, place, animal and person. So they need some methods which could help them in writing descriptive text. Brainstorming Technique is a creativity technique that seeks to find a solution to a particular problem by gathering ideas spontaneously from students or group. So students can be more enthusiastic in learning but students will find it easier if they learn to pour our ideas using media such as images and others media. In this case, the teacher will use Brainstorming technique. The purposes are to know the improvement of students ability in writing descriptive text. The second is to find out how the use of Brainstorming technique contributes to students in writing descriptive text. Improving the student ability in writing descriptive text through brainstorming technique is a classroom action research which is aimed at improving students writing descriptive text that cover parts characteristic and qualities of the object. In this research the researcher took a test of their improvement in two cycles. In the first cycle found the mean of the score of students writing was 59 with the total 1770. In the second cycle found the mean of the score of the students writing 76, 43 with the total 2293. The result of the research that the students improve their ability in writing descriptive text using Brainstorming technique. Finally the advantages of using Brainstorming techniques are that the students could arrange the words and develop their writing paragraph in describing easily object.
