Abstract
There are two objectives of this research is first, to describe the process of KWL (Know, Want, Learn) technique implementation during teaching and learning process in the classroom at the eighth grade of SMPN 7 Kota Serang. Second, to discover the improvement of students’ reading comprehension achievement on the recount text through KWL (Know, Want, Learn) technique at the eighth grade of SMPN 7 Kota Serang. The researcher used classroom action research as research methodology that conducted in two cycles. Data of the improvement were gained from both qualitative and quantitative data. The researcher used observation checklist and documentation to obtain the qualitative data. Furthermore pre-test, post test I and post test II were conducted to obtain quantitative data.The result of the students' average score from pre-test, post test cycle one and post-test cycle two increased 12.8% from 59 and the post-test two increased until 19.5% from 71.8%. The results shows that the achievement of student’s score in reading comprehension of recouunt text was increased after implementing KWL (Know, Want, Learn) technique at the eighth-grade students of SMPN 7 Kota Serang.
