Abstract

The aimed of the research were to describe the process teaching reading comprehension in descriptive text through Two Stay-Two Stray (TSTS) technique and to find out whether Two Stay-Two Stray (TSTS) technique can improve students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text at the seventh grade of SMPN 2 Karangtanjung. The subject of this research was students in class VIIA of SMPN 2 Karangtanjung. The researcher used qualitative by implementing Class Action Research (CAR) as a research method. The researcher used pre-test and post-test to collect the quantitative data. Whereas, the research used observation sheet and documentation to collect qualitative data. There were two cycle was conducted in this research which consist two meeting in every cycle. The process of teaching reading comprehension of descriptive text go on very well. The students enjoyed and enthusiastic in every meeting. The improvement of reading comprehension test showed the result of pre-test and post-test showed significant improvement. The average of pre-test was 44.92 it means only 3 of student (11.53%) who passed KKM. The average of post-test 1 was 68.76 it means there were 12 of students (46.15%) who passed the KKM. The average of post-test 2 was 82.15 it means there were 24 of students (92.30%) who passed the test. In conclusion, Two Stay-Two Stray (TSTS) technique was improved students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text.
