Abstract
This research was aimed to improve the students‟ writing skill by using comic strips. This research employed Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CCAR). The research involved 30 students in the class G and the English teacher as the research collaborator. This research was conducted in two cycles which consisted of three meeting in every cycle. The data gained through observation sheet, documentation, and test as the instruments to collect the data of qualitative and quantitative. The research findings showed that the use of comic strips as media with the use of some supporting activities and classroom was proven to be effective to improve the students‟ writing score in recount text. The result of students‟ average score was 45.6 in pre-test, 76.5 in post-test of cycle I, and 84.1 in post-test of cycle II. From the result, it can be inferred that using comic strips as media can give students improvement in their writing skill of recount text. In addition, they made a considerable improvement in some aspect of writing skills such as content, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.
