Abstract
Film secara estetis merupakan media yang kuat karena mensejajarkan dialog, musik, dan tindakan dalam cara visual-naratif. Film The Interview bergenre komedi satir yang bercerita tentang rencana pembunuhan pemimpin Korea Utara, Kim Jong Un. Masalah kepemimpinan merupakan hal yang sering dijumpai baik di Korea Utara maupun di Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konstruksi kepemimpinan dalam film The Interview melalui tokoh Kim Jong Un dengan berdasarkan pada teori semiotika Roland Barthes yaitu, 1. Makna denotatif kepemimpinan, 2. Makna konotatif kepemimpinan dan 3. Mitos kepemimpinan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa, makna denotatif kepemimpinan Kim Jong Un digambarakan sebagai sosok pemimpin yang tidak mencerminkan nilai-nilai dasar kepemimpinan, seperti kejujuran, keterbukaan dan pemimpin berpengalaman. Makna konotatif kepemimpinan Kim Jong Un hanya menggambarkan kepemimpinan yang sifatnya didasarkan oleh keinginan untuk mendapatkan kekuasaan, kemewahan dan harga diri. Mitosnya adalah kepemimpinan absolut akan cenderung korup, sekeras apapun sifat seorang pemimpin pasti memilki kelemahan, pemimpin hebat terlahir dari pemimpin yang hebat, dan pemimpin yang bermasalah dengan ‘citra’ akan menggunakan kekuasaan untuk mendongkrak harga dirinya. Film ini dapat dijadikan contoh kasus kepemimpinan yang ada di Indonesia dimana banyak pemimpin yang tidak memiliki integritas, pemimpin yang terlibat korupsi, kurangnya etika dan moral kepemimpinan, dan masih banyaknya pemimpin yang mengedepankan kepentingan golongannya daripada kepentingan rakyat. Tidak luput dari semuanya, penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menambah dan memberikan sumbangan pemikiran, serta dapat bermanfaat untuk pengembangan studi ilmu komunikasi. | Additional Information: | As aesthetical films are a powerful medium for aligning the dialogue, music, views, and actions in the way of visual narrative. The Interview Film is a satirical comedy genre film that tells the story about the plan to murder the North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un. Leadership is a problem that often to be found in North Korea or Indonesia. This study aimed to determine the construction of Kim Jong Un figure in The Interview movie based on the semiotic theory of Roland Barthes in order to determine, 1. The denotation of leadership, 2. The connotation of leadership, 3. Myth of leadership. The results of this research showed that, denotative leadership of Kim Jong Un is described as being a leader who does not reflect the basic values of leadership, such as honesty, openness and experience. Connotation leadership of Kim Jong Un are describing only leadership which are based on the desire to have power, luxurious and respect. Myth of leadership is, the absolute system will tend to be corrupt, male leaders considered to be better, great leader are born from great leader, and leaders who had problem with their ‘image’ will use his power to boost respect from the other. This film can be used as an example in the case of the existing leadership in Indonesia where many leaders who haven’t integrity, leaders who are involved in corruption, lack of ethic and moral leadership, and the large number of leaders who are putting forward the interests of his division rather than the interests of its people. And this research is expected to add and contribute thoughts, and can be beneficial to the development of the communication study.
