Abstract

Crack is condition of a concrete structure that doesn’t converge again. Crack cannot be ignored because it can reduced concrete strength. The measurement of concrete crack depth can be done with Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) method using PUNDIT tool. UPV method can be applied directly, but the accurancy is influenced by factors such as reinforcement, difference in concrete density, and tranducer arrangement. This Study want to know the effect of reinforcement and distance of tranducer in determing concrete crack depth. The specimens used is cylindrical 15x30 cm and beams 15x15x60 cm with f’c 19 Mpa. Variations in crack depth is ±2 cm, ±4 cm, ±6 cm and each variation of crack was made 3 beam specimen with Ø8 mm reinforcement at center of the beam in 4 cm depth. UPV test using Indirect method with variations in Tranducer distance with 3 cm, 6 cm, 9 cm, 12 cm. .The results of the tests obtained for ±2 cm and ±4 cm artificial crack depth readings had a greater reading value because reinforcement with average difference is 36,8% and 15,77%, and give smaller reading for 6cm artificial crack with average difference is -4,954%. Effective distance of tranducer for testing artificial crack depth ±2 cm ±4 cm, and ±6 cm with reinforcement is 120 mm. the travel time of ultrasonic pulse is also faster because reinforcement
