Abstract

Soil is the basis of a civil building construction. Each region has a variety of characteristics and soil properties. Often there are some bad and less favorable soil properties for a building construction. Jalan Cikeusik Kecamatan Cikeusik Pndeglang - Banten has expansive clay characteristics, is soil types with low carrying capacity and has a high shrinkage potential if there is a change in water content. This resulted in the problem of damage to the structure of buildings on it, such as a bumpy road and the decline of the road body. There are several steps that can be taken to improve the labile soil, one of which is the stability of the soil with chemicals. But in this study, used materials plus Fly Ash for soil stabilization. Testing aims to understand soil clasification, plasticity index the soil and find out how the influence of the addition of fly ash against the character of the physical land, and knowing the value of unconfined compression test soil in the condition of existing and after get mixed fly ash. The moisture content of test objects taken from the results of the solidification of a standard proctor with the variation of a mixture of fly ash 0 , 10%, 15 % 20 % and 25% with curing time of 0 days, 7 days, 14 days, 21 days and 28 days. Based on the result, soil that stabilized by fly ash to variation 0 %, 10 %, 15 %, 20 % and 25 % showed increase of compression strength. The largest value of unconfined compression test (UCT) result for soil sample mixed with fly ash levels by 20 % and curing for 14 days, the value is 8,1 kg/cm2. Curing influential on the value unconfined compression test because fly ash is pozzolant that is like the cement took some time to strengthen is bonding power
