Abstract

Subgrade is a pavement layer that accepts structural loads on top of it, so the subgrade is the last layer that receives the vehicle load. The construction of soil on Munjul Street - Sindang Resmi Pandeglang Regency has a low carrying capacity by having a California Bearing Ratio of 2.8% by testing the Dynamic Cone Penetration, so that the value of California Bearing Ratio on the road is below the standard of 3%, then the land stabilization needs to be done. This study aims to determine the value of California Bearing Ratio before and after chemical stabilization by adding bottom ash, as well as to determine the soil classification. The addition of bottom ash was carried out with percentage variations of 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% with a length of 0, 3, and 7 days ripening which was then carried out by unsoaked California Bearing Ratio testing. The results showed that based on the classification system the Unified soil Classification System soil type in the area is included in the OH classification, namely organic clay with medium to high plasticity. Based on the addition of 20% bottom ash and 7 days ripening the highest California Bearing Ratio value is 26.1% and there is a decrease in the addition of 30% bottom ash with 7 days ripening which is 15.9%, so that the optimum addition of bottom ash percentage at 20%. Addition of bottom ash to soil can increase the value of California Bearing Ratio.
