Abstract
Refined sugar is a white crystalline sugar with a high level of purity produced from the processing of raw sugar. PT XYZ still faces challenges related to production efficiency and sustainability, as indicated by a defect rate of 4 to 5%, which exceeds the company’s target of 2%, process time inefficiencies, suboptimal resource utilization, and the occurrence of workplace accidents. These conditions indicate a gap between the current performance and an efficient and sustainable production state. This study aims to evaluate sustainability efficiency in the economic, environmental, and social dimensions, identify the causes of waste, and develop improvement proposals using the Sustainable Value Stream Mapping (Sus-VSM) approach. The research was conducted on refined sugar products R1 and R2 using data from August to October 2025 obtained through observation, interviews, and brainstorming. The analysis was carried out using Sus-VSM, Process Activity Mapping, Fishbone Diagram, and the 5W+1H method. The results show that the Value Added Time increased from 82% to 87% for product R1 and from 79% to 84% for product R2. The defect rate also decreased from 4 to 5% to 2%. These improvements were achieved through the elimination of non-value-added activities, particularly waiting time and re-cleaning processes. The findings demonstrate that Sus-VSM is effective in improving efficiency and sustainability performance and can serve as a basis for continuous production process improvement.

PT XYZ masih menghadapi kendala efisiensi dan keberlanjutan produksi, ditunjukkan oleh defect rate sebesar 4% sampai 5% yang melebihi target perusahaan sebesar 2%, pemborosan waktu proses, penggunaan sumber daya yang belum optimal, serta masih terjadinya kecelakaan kerja. Kondisi tersebut menunjukkan adanya kesenjangan antara kinerja aktual dan kondisi produksi yang efisien dan berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efisiensi keberlanjutan pada dimensi ekonomi, lingkungan, dan sosial, mengidentifikasi penyebab pemborosan, serta merumuskan usulan perbaikan menggunakan pendekatan Sustainable Value Stream Mapping (Sus VSM). Penelitian dilakukan pada produksi gula rafinasi R1 dan R2 menggunakan data periode Agustus sampai Oktober 2025 melalui observasi, wawancara, dan brainstorming. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan Sus-VSM, Process Activity Mapping, diagram Fishbone, dan metode 5W+1H. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai Value Added Time meningkat dari 82% menjadi 87% pada produk R1 dan dari 79% menjadi 84% pada produk R2. Defect rate juga menurun dari 4% sampai 5% menjadi 2%. Peningkatan ini dicapai melalui eliminasi aktivitas non-value added, terutama waktu tunggu dan pembersihan ulang proses.
