Abstract
This study evaluated the effects of KNO₃ dosage and melon varieties on growth and fruit quality. The experiment was conducted from September to December 2025 in Pandeglang Regency using a split plot design with four KNO₃ dosages (0, 2, 4, and 6 g/plant) and three melon varieties (Kinanti, Kirani, and Alisha), with three replications. Parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, sugar content, fruit weight, and sensory sweetness. The results of this study indicate that the application of a 4 g/plant dose of KNO₃ had a significant effect on plant height at 6 weeks after transplanting (WAT) (237,44 cm), number of leaves at 5 WAT (35,11 leaves) and 6 WAT (35,56 leaves), and fruit weight (1,30 kg). Furthermore, in the variety treatment, it was found that the Kinanti melon variety (M1) had a significant effect on the plant height parameters at 2 WAT (52,92 cm), 3 WAT (81,08 cm), 4 WAT (177,17 cm), and 6 WAT (235,33 cm), number of leaves at 4 WAT (28,17 leaves), 5 WAT (34,17 leaves), and 6 WAT (34,75 leaves), and sensory sweetness level (4,58 score). The results of the study found an interaction between the application of 4 g/plant of KNO₃ and the Kinanti variety on the parameters of plant height at 5 WAT (214,67 cm) and sugar content (14,7 °brix), as well as an interaction between the application of 4 g/plant of KNO₃ and the Kirani variety on the parameter of fruit flesh thickness (3,70 cm).

| Additional Information: | Melon merupakan salah satu tanaman hortikultura yang berpotensi sebagai produk unggulan hortikultura. Pupuk KNO₃ berperan penting dalam mendukung pertumbuhan, pembungaan, pembentukan buah, serta meningkatkan kadar gula dalam buah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan September 2025 sampai dengan Desember 2025 di Poktan Bina Tani, Kabupaten Pandeglang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Petak Terbagi dua faktor, faktor pertama adalahempat dosis KNO₃ (K) 0, 2, 4 dan 6 g/tanaman. Faktor kedua adalah varietas tanaman melon (M) yang terdiri dari Kinanti, Kirani dan Alisha. Pada setiap perlakuan diulang sebanyak 3 kali maka diperoleh 36 kombinasi perlakuan. Parameter yang diamati yaitu tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, kadar gula, bobot buah, panjang buah, lebar buah, ketebalan daging buah dan tingkat kemanisan (sensori). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemberian dosis KNO₃ 4 g/tanaman berpengaruh sangat nyata pada tinggi tanaman umur 6 MSPT (237,44 cm), jumlah daun 5 MSPT (35,11 helai) dan 6 MSPT (35,56 helai), serta bobot buah (1,30 kg). Tanaman melon varietas Kinanti berpengaruh nyata pada parameter tinggi tanaman yaitu 2 MSPT (52,92 cm), 3 MSPT (81,08 cm), 4 MSPT (177,17 cm), dan 6 MSPT (235,33 cm), jumlah daun pada 4 MSPT (28,17 helai), 5 MSPT (34,17 helai), dan 6 MSPT (34,75 helai), serta tingkat kemanisan secara sensori (4,58 skor). Terdapat interaksi antara pemberian dosis KNO₃ 4 g/tanaman dan varietas Kinanti pada parameter tinggi tanaman umur 5 MSPT (214,67 cm) dan kadar gula (14,67 °brix), serta terdapat interaksi antara pemberian dosis KNO₃ 4 g/tanaman dan varietas Kirani pada parameter ketebalan daging buah (3,70 cm). | |||||||||
