Abstract
Soil is one of the main materials in construction work which has an important role as a supporting medium for structural loads. This study aims to determine the effect of rice husk ash (RHA) addition on the improvement of unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of organic clay soil obtained from Cipanas District, Lebak Regency. The RHA variations used were 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% of the dry soil weight. Laboratory tests conducted included physical properties, Standard Proctor compaction, and UCS based on relevant Indonesian National Standards (SNI). The results showed that the addition of RHA decreased the specific gravity and maximum dry density, while increasing the optimum moisture content due to the porous and high water absorption characteristics of RHA. The UCS value increased from 0.3263 kg/cm² (0%) to an optimum value of 0.7613 kg/cm² at 15%, with an overall improvement of 133.3%. Hence, RHA is effective as a stabilizing agent for organic clay soil, particularly in applications requiring improved soil load-bearing capacity.
