Abstract
Teaching Factory (Tefa) is a production-based learning model that integrates industrial standards and work culture into vocational high school learning to enhance the relevance of graduates’ competencies. However, the implementation of Teaching Factory in the Machining Engineering concentration at vocational high schools in Kota Serang has not been fully realized. This study aims to analyze the readiness and obstacles in implementing Teaching Factory in vocational high schools in Kota Serang. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation at SMKN 2 Kota Serang and SMK PGRI 1 Kota Serang, involving informants such as the head of the study program, vice principals for curriculum, industry relations, and facilities and infrastructure, as well as twelfth-grade students of Machining Engineering. Data were analyzed using NVivo 12 through coding, categorization, and thematic mapping, followed by drawing conclusions based on field findings reviewed according to the stages of Teaching Factory implementation. The results indicate that initial readiness has been established in the stages of socialization, organization, and learning implementation, as reflected in the existing general organizational structure, leadership support, practical activities producing tangible products, and the availability of teachers and workshop facilities. However, Teaching Factory has not yet been integrated into a comprehensive and sustainable system. The obstacles include the absence of a specific organizational structure and internal regulations for Teaching Factory, limited evaluation mechanisms, restricted socialization, weak promotion and industry partnerships, limited competence and number of human resources, inadequate facilities and practice materials, simulation-based learning patterns, and production capacity and quality that have not yet met industrial standards. | Additional Information: | Teaching Factory (Tefa) merupakan model pembelajaran berbasis produksi yang mengintegrasikan standar dan budaya kerja industri ke dalam pembelajaran SMK untuk meningkatkan relevansi kompetensi lulusan. Namun, implementasi Tefa pada Konsentrasi Teknik Pemesinan di SMK Kota Serang belum berjalan secara utuh. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kesiapan dan hambatan implementasi Teaching Factory di SMK Kota Serang. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi di SMKN 2 Kota Serang dan SMK PGRI 1 Kota dengan informan kepala program keahlian, wakil kepala sekolah bidang kurikulum, hubungan industri, sarana dan prasarana, serta siswa kelas XII Teknik Pemesinan. Analisis data menggunakan NVivo 12 melalui pengodean, kategorisasi, dan pemetaan tema, kemudian ditarik kesimpulan berdasarkan temuan lapangan yang ditinjau ke dalam tahapan implementasi Teaching Factory. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesiapan awal telah terbentuk pada tahap sosialisasi, pengorganisasian, dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran, ditandai dengan adanya struktur organisasi umum, dukungan pimpinan, praktik yang menghasilkan produk nyata, serta ketersediaan guru dan fasilitas bengkel, meskipun belum terintegrasi dalam sistem Teaching Factory yang komprehensif dan berkelanjutan. Hambatan meliputi belum terbentuknya struktur dan regulasi khusus Tefa, mekanisme evaluasi, sosialisasi terbatas, lemahnya promosi dan kemitraan industri, keterbatasan kompetensi dan jumlah SDM, keterbatasan fasilitas dan bahan praktik, pembelajaran yang masih bersifat simulatif, serta kapasitas dan kualitas produksi yang belum memenuhi standar industri, sehingga Teaching Factory masih berada pada skala internal sekolah. hambatan, implementasi, kesiapan, teaching factory, teknik pemesinan | |||||||||
