Abstract
This study discusses pacifism in the animated film Princess Mononoke. Pacifism, as a principle of rejecting violence and supporting conflict resolution through peaceful means, has long been a topic widely discussed through various media. Throughout history, war has been used as a means to achieve glory, military power, and social advancement. This study aims to identify and explore the representations of pacifism in the animated film Princess Mononoke, examined from the levels of reality, representation, and ideology. This research uses a qualitative approach with a constructivist paradigm. The study employs John Fiske's semiotic analysis, which consists of three stages: the level of reality, the level of representation, and the level of ideology. The units of analysis consist of eight scenes in the film Princess Mononoke representing pacifism. Research results show that at the reality level, pacifism portrayed in Princess Mononoke is represented through movements and expressions. Meanwhile, at the representation level, pacifism in Princess Mononoke is shown through dialogue and camera techniques. At the ideology level, pacifism in Princess Mononoke is demonstrated in the form of ecological pacifism. The conclusion of this study is that in the animated film Princess Mononoke, the representation of pacifism is seen in a combination of expressions, movements, words, camera techniques, and ecological pacifism. Pacifism is represented through the hope for harmony between nature and humans through the character Ashitaka, who is depicted as a savior, helping to restore nature with his own hands. Ashitaka acts as a seeker of peace, a controller in conflict, empathetic, and rejects the consequences of violence.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini membahas pasifisme dalam film animasi Princess Mononoke. Pasifisme sebagai prinsip penolakan terhadap kekerasan dan dukungan penyelesaian konflik melalui cara-cara damai, telah lama menjadi topik yang banyak dibicarakan melalui berbagai media. Sejak dahulu perang digunakan sebagai sarana untuk mencapai kejayaan, kekuatan milliter dan kemajuan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menemukan representasi pasifisme dalam film animasi Princess Mononoke ditinjau dari level realitas, represetasi dan ideologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan tipe penelitian kualitatif dengan paradigma kontruktivisme. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis semiotika John Fiske berupa analisis tiga tahap yaitu level realitas, level representasi dan level ideologi. Unit analisis terdiri dari delapan scene yang ada dalam film Princess Mononoke yang merepresentasikan pasfisme. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada level realitas, pasifisme ditunjukkan dalam Princess Mononoke direpresentasikan dengan gerakan dan ekspresi. Sedangkan level representasi, pasifisme dalam film Princess Mononoke ditunjukkan dengan dialog dan teknik pengambilan kamera. Dalam level ideologi, pasfisme dalam film Princess Mononoke ditunjukkan dalam bentuk pasifisme ekologi. Kesimpulan dalam penelitian ini yaitu, dalam film animasi Princess Mononoke, representasi pasifisme terlihat dalam kombinasi, ekspresi, gerakan, kata-kata, teknik pengambilan kamera, dan pasifisme ekologi. Pasifisme direpresentasikan melalui harapan keharmonisan alam dan manusia melalui karakter Ashitaka yang digambarkan sebagai penyelamat, yang dengan tangannya, membantu memulihkan alam. Ashitaka bertindak sebagai pencari perdamaian, pengendalian dalam konflik, empati dan penolakan terhadap akibat kekerasan. | ||||||
