Abstract

Background: The phenomenon of suboptimal nurse performance in providing nursing care in inpatient wards is a significant concern in today's healthcare. One factor that has the potential to influence this performance is the leadership role of the ward head. The ward head has a major responsibility in organizing, motivating, and guiding nurses to work in accordance with established nursing service standards. Objective: To analyze the influence of the ward head's leadership role, which includes aspects of initiative, decision-making, communication, motivation, and human resource development, on nurse performance in providing nursing care in the inpatient ward of Banten Regional General Hospital. Method: The method used was quantitative analytic with a cross-sectional design. The study population was 162 nurses with a sample of 127 respondents, obtained through proportional random sampling technique with an anticipated dropout of 10%. The instrument used was a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Results: Most respondents rated the leadership role of the ward head as good (66.9%) and stated that it was not good (33.1%). The results of statistical tests showed a significant relationship between the leadership role of the ward head and nurse performance (p = 0.000) with an OR value of 3.964 (CI: 1.817 - 8.649). Conclusion: Good nurse performance is formed because the leadership role of the ward head has been running effectively and has a direct contribution in improving nursing care.

Additional Information: Latar belakang: Fenomena kinerja perawat yang belum optimal dalam pemberian asuhan keperawatan di ruang rawat inap menjadi perhatian penting dalam pelayanan kesehatan saat ini. Salah satu faktor yang berpotensi memengaruhi kinerja tersebut adalah peran kepemimpinan kepala ruangan. Kepala ruangan memiliki tanggung jawab besar dalam mengatur, memotivasi, serta membimbing perawat pelaksana agar bekerja sesuai dengan standar pelayanan keperawatan yang ditetapkan. Tujuan: Untuk menganalisis pengaruh peran kepemimpinan kepala ruangan yang meliputi aspek inisiatif, pengambilan keputusan, komunikasi, motivasi, dan pengembangan sumber daya manusia terhadap kinerja perawat dalam pemberian asuhan keperawatan di ruang rawat inap RSUD Banten. Metode: yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif analitik dengan desain cross-sectional. Populasi penelitian adalah 162 perawat pelaksana dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 127 responden, yang diperoleh melalui teknik proportional random sampling dengan antisipasi drop out sebesar 10%. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Hasil: Sebagian besar responden menilai peran kepemimpinan kepala ruangan baik (66,9%) dan menyatakan kurang baik (33,1%). Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara peran kepemimpinan kepala ruangan dan kinerja perawat (p=0,000) dengan nilai OR=3.964 (CI: 1,817 - 8,649). Simpulan: Kinerja perawat yang baik terbentuk karena peran kepemimpinan kepala ruangan telah berjalan secara efektif dan memiliki kontribusi langsung dalam meningkatkan asuhan keperawatan.
