Abstract
MAYA HERLINA. 2026. The Effect of Adding Flour Tomato Extract (Solanum lycopersicum) on the Color Performance of Neon Tetra Fish (Paracheirodon innesi), under the guidance of Saifullah and Muh. Herjayanto. Neon tetra fish (Paracheirodon innesi) are unique in that they have beautiful bodies with red and shiny blue stripes and move in schools. The brightness of the fish's color is an important factor to consider. This is because the brighter the color of the fish, the higher its price will be. Tomatoes are a food source with the potential to be used as a source of red carotenoid pigments. The type of carotenoid compound in tomatoes is lycopene, which is the pigment that causes the red color. Lycopene is often referred to as α-carotene, a bright red carotenoid pigment found in tomatoes and other red fruits. This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding tomato extract at different doses in feed on the color quality of neon tetra fish (Paracheirodon innesi). The benefit of this study is to provide scientific information on tomato extract as a feed additive for color brightness in neon tetra fish (Paracheirodon innesi). This study was conducted from July to September 2024. The fish were kept at the Aquaculture Laboratory, Fisheries Science Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. The research method used was experimental. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD). This study used 4 treatments of tomato powder extract addition in feed with 3 replicates each, namely P0 (control), P1 (ml/kg), P2 (30 ml/kg), P3 (60 ml/kg). Based on the results of color quality observations using a Toca Color Finder (TCF), the results showed no significant effect (P>0.05). The final total carotenoid content in tomato flour extract was 1037.54/50g. Based on color diversity observations using Adobe Photoshop CS6, there was a significant effect (P<0.05) on visual color diversity at the base of the tail. Observations showed that the addition of tomato flour extract in feed had a significant effect (P<0.05) and influenced the number of chromatophore cells. The highest treatment was found in treatment 2 with an average value of 82 ± 27.3 cells, while the lowest treatment was found in treatment 0 with an average value of 22 ± 7.3 cells. Water quality values during maintenance, at a temperature of 26.30–28.60 °C, pH 7.81–8.48, and DO 6.3–6.9 mg/L. Keywords: Ornamental fish, Tomato flour extract, Red colour pigmen

Ikan neon tetra (Paracheirodon innesi), memiliki keunikan yaitu terletak pada tubuh indah dengan warna merah dan garis biru berkilau serta bergerak secara bergerombol. Kecerahan warna ikan merupakan faktor penting yang harus diperhatikan. Buah tomat merupakan salah satu bahan pangan yang berpotensi digunakan sebagai sumber pigmen merah karotenoid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efek penambahan ekstrak tepung tomat dengan dosis yang berbeda dalam pakan terhadap kualitas warna dari ikan neon tetra (Paracheirodon innesi). Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli-September 2024. Tempat pemeliharaan ikan dilakukan di Laboratorium Budidaya Perairan, Program Studi Ilmu Perikanan, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Penelitian ini menggunakan 4 perlakuan penambahan ekstrak tepung tomat di dalam pakan dengan masing-masing terdapat 3 kali ulangan, yaitu P0 (kontrol), P1 (ml/kg), P2 (30 ml/kg), P3 (60 ml/kg). data yang diamati yaitu, kualitas warna toca color finder (TCF), keragaman warna dengan Adobe photoshop CS6, jumlah sel kromatofor, total karotenoid, panjang mutlak, bobot mutlak, tingkat konsumsi pakan, kelulushidupan dan kualitas air. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan kualitas warna yang menggunakan (TCF) menunjukkan bahwa hasilnya tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) pada hari ke-10 dan hari ke-20. Hasil akhir total karotenoid yang terdapat pada ekstrak tepung tomat yaitu sebesar 1037,54/50g. Berdasarkan pengamatan keragaman warna menggunakan aplikasi Adobe photoshop CS6, memberikan pengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap keragaman warna visual pada pangkal ekor. Pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak tepung tomat dalam pakan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) dan mempengaruhi jumlah sel kromatofor. Perlakuan tertinggi terdapat pada P2 dengan nilai rata-rata 82 ± 27,3 sel, sedangkan perlakuan terendah terdapat pada P0 dengan nilai rata-rata 22 ± 7,3 sel. Analisis ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap tingkat konsumsi pakan dan panjang mutlak. Perlakuan tidak mempengaruhi kelulushidupan yang tetap 100%, dan tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap bobot mutlak. Nilai kualitas air selama pemeliharaan, pada suhu menunjukkan rata-rata 26,30 – 28,60 ⁰C, pH 7,81 – 8,48, DO 6,3 – 6,9 mg/L.
