Abstract

The low accessibility level of university Websites is often caused by a reactive development approach, where accessibility aspects are only evaluated late in the development cycle. This condition triggers the accumulation of technical debt that not only hinders students with disabilities but also degrades the quality of the user experience in general. This study aims to address this problem by proposing a mechanism for integrating Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 levels A and AA into Scrum artifacts. This study applies the Shift-Left Testing approach, where WCAG success criteria are systematically translated into an Inclusive Product Backlog and absolute DoD (DoD) requirements from the initiation phase. Validation of the mechanism was carried out through the development of a prototype of the Academic Information System (SIAKAD) interface for the authentication, dashboard, KRS, and grade recording modules. The evaluation was carried out comprehensively, including technical validation and usability evaluation involving general users. The results of the study indicate that the proposed mechanism is effective in producing technically valid software, as evidenced by checklist validation and the achievement of a perfect accessibility score in automated testing. From a user perspective, the system achieved a System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 84.77 (Excellent) and a 24.4% increase in perceived ease of use compared to the existing system. This study concludes that integrating accessibility standards into Scrum has proven effective as a preventative strategy for producing standards-compliant and usable systems. Additional Information: Rendahnya tingkat aksesibilitas pada situs Web perguruan tinggi sering kali disebabkan oleh pendekatan pengembangan yang bersifat reaktif, di mana aspek aksesibilitas baru dievaluasi pada tahap akhir siklus pengembangan. Kondisi ini memicu akumulasi hutang teknis yang tidak hanya menghambat mahasiswa penyandang disabilitas, tetapi juga menurunkan kualitas pengalaman pengguna secara umum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dengan mengusulkan mekanisme integrasi standar Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level A dan AA ke dalam artefak Scrum. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan Shift-Left Testing, di mana kriteria sukses WCAG diterjemahkan secara sistematis menjadi Inclusive Product Backlog dan syarat mutlak DoD (DoD) sejak fase inisiasi. Validasi mekanisme dilakukan melalui pengembangan purwarupa antarmuka Sistem Informasi Akademik (SIAKAD) pada modul autentikasi, dashboard, KRS dan rekam nilai. Evaluasi dilakukan secara komprehensif meliputi validasi teknis serta evaluasi usabilitas melibatkan pengguna umum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mekanisme yang diusulkan efektif menghasilkan perangkat lunak yang valid secara teknis, dibuktikan dengan validasi daftar periksa dan capaian skor aksesibilitas sempurna pada pengujian otomatis. Dari aspek pengguna, sistem mencatatkan skor System Usability Scale (SUS) sebesar 84.77 (Kategori Excellent) dan peningkatan persepsi kemudahan penggunaan sebesar 24,4% dibandingkan sistem eksisting. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa integrasi standar aksesibilitas ke dalam Scrum terbukti efektif sebagai strategi preventif untuk menghasilkan yang patuh standar dan memiliki tingkat usabilitas yang memenuhi standar.
