Abstract
This study aimed to describe the role of sociology teachers in addressing bullying among students at SMA Negeri 7 Kota Serang. The research focused on identifying the forms of bullying occurring within the school environment and examining the strategies employed by sociology teachers to respond to and prevent such acts through the integration of social values and community norms. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, and data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation. The data were then analyzed using the processes of reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings revealed that bullying at the school manifested in both verbal and non-verbal forms, including teasing, exclusion, and peer intimidation. The sociology teacher played a central role as an educator, mentor, and social controller by promoting a safe and ethical learning atmosphere through class discussions, moral instruction, and the reinforcement of students’ social empathy. Based on Max Weber’s theory of social action, the teacher’s efforts were understood as rational actions directed toward educational values and goals that encourage positive social behavior among students. Overall, the results highlight the importance of teacher involvement in fostering a supportive environment and reducing bullying at school.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran guru sosiologi dalam mengatasi tindakan bullying pada peserta didik di SMA Negeri 7 Kota Serang. Fokus penelitian mencakup bentuk-bentuk bullying yang terjadi di lingkungan sekolah serta strategi guru sosiologi dalam menangani dan mencegahnya melalui penerapan nilai-nilai sosial dan norma masyarakat. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi, serta dianalisis menggunakan teknik reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tindakan bullying di SMA Negeri 7 Kota Serang meliputi bentuk verbal dan non-verbal, seperti ejekan, pengucilan, serta intimidasi terhadap teman sebaya. Guru sosiologi berperan sebagai pendidik, pembimbing, dan pengontrol sosial yang berupaya menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang aman dan beretika melalui kegiatan diskusi, pembelajaran nilai moral, serta penguatan empati sosial siswa. Berdasarkan teori tindakan sosial Max Weber, peran guru sosiologi dapat dipahami sebagai bentuk tindakan rasional yang berorientasi pada nilai dan tujuan pendidikan untuk membentuk perilaku sosial yang positif di kalangan peserta didik. | |||||||||
