Abstract
This study aims to identify the self-concept of wives in polygamous marriages in Karundang Urban Village, Cipocok District, Serang City. The type of research used in this study is qualitative research with a case study method. The techniques used are interviews and observations. The respondents in this research consist of four wives involved in polygamous marriages. The results of the study show that there are differences in self-concept between informants who are first wives and those who are not first wives. The self-concept of informants who are first wives tends to be more negative compared to that of informants who are second and third wives. The negative context referred to here is that the informants hold unfavorable views of themselves, such as criticizing their appearance as no longer being as attractive as it was when they were younger, and feeling that this is one of the reasons their husbands decided to marry another woman.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsep diri istri yang dipoligami di Kelurahan Karundang Kecamatan Cipocok Kota Serang. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Sedangkan teknik yang digunakan ialah wawancara dan observasi. Responden dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 4 orang istri yang terlibat dalam pernikahan poligami. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan pada konsep diri antara informan yang merupakan istri pertama dan informan yang bukan istri pertama. Konsep diri informan istri pertama cenderung lebih negatif dibanding dengan informan yang merupakan istri kedua dan ketiga. Konteks negatif yang dimaksud di sini ialah informan memiliki pandangan yang buruk terhadap dirinya sendiri, seperti mengkritisi penampilan mereka yang sudah tidak semenarik dulu saat muda dan merasa bahwa hal tersebut merupakan salah satu penyebab suami mereka memutuskan untuk menikah lagi dengan perempuan lain. | |||||||||
