Abstract
ABSTRACT Aulika Nazmi Laila, 2025. The Development of Journaling Media Using the Expressive writing Technique to Reduce Students’ Academic Stress at SMAN 1 Kabupaten Tangerang. Thesis. Supervide by: Evi Afiati, M.Pd. (Supervisor 1) and Lenny Wahyuningsih, M.Pd. (supervior 2). Departement of Guidance and Counseling Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. This study aims to develop Journaling media using the Expressive writing technique as a tool to reduce academic stress among senior high school students. The research was motivated by the high level of academic stress experienced by grade XI students at SMAN 1 Kabupaten Tangerang due to academic demands, heavy workloads, and environmental expectations. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subjects were grade XI students with moderate to high levels of academic stress. Data were collected through academic stress questionnaires, observations, and expert validation sheets. The results indicated that the Journaling media using the Expressive writing technique achieved an average feasibility score of 91%, categorized as highly feasible. Limited trials also showed a decrease in students’ academic stress levels after using the media. Students found the media attractive, communicative, and effective in expressing emotions positively.In conclusion, the Journaling media using the Expressive writing technique is considered effective and feasible to be applied as a Guidance and Counseling service tool in schools to help students manage and reduce academic stress. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media Journaling dengan teknik Expressive writing sebagai sarana untuk mengurangi stres akademik siswa SMA. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah tingginya tingkat stres akademik pada siswa kelas XI SMAN 1 Kabupaten Tangerang akibat tuntutan akademik, beban tugas, dan ekspektasi lingkungan belajar.Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Subjek penelitian meliputi siswa kelas XI yang memiliki tingkat stres akademik sedang hingga tinggi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket stres akademik, observasi, dan validasi ahli.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media Journaling teknik Expressive writing memperoleh rata-rata kelayakan sebesar 91%, termasuk kategori sangat layak digunakan. Uji coba terbatas juga menunjukkan adanya penurunan tingkat stres akademik siswa setelah menggunakan media ini. Siswa menilai media tersebut menarik, komunikatif, dan membantu mengekspresikan emosi secara positif. Dengan demikian, media Journaling teknik Expressive writing dinyatakan efektif dan layak diterapkan sebagai layanan Bimbingan dan Konseling di sekolah untuk membantu siswa mengelola serta menurunkan stres akademik.
