Abstract

Sephia, 2025. The Effectiveness of Art Therapy (Finger Painting) in Reducing Students’ Academic Stress. Thesis. Supervised by Lenny Wahyuningsih, M.Pd (Advisor I) and Bangun Yoga Wibowo, M.Pd (Advisor II). Guidance and Counseling Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. This study was conducted based on the high level of academic stress experienced by students and the absence of specific intervention programs at school. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of finger painting in reducing students’ academic stress. The research employed a quantitative method with a preexperimental approach using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, resulting in 10 students with the highest levels of academic stress, who then received treatment through eight sessions of group counseling. The hypothesis was tested using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The findings showed a significant decrease in the mean score from 76.6 to 38.2. Based on the Wilcoxon test results, the significance value of 0.005 < 0.05 indicates that the hypothesis is accepted. Thus, Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. This study concludes that group counseling using the finger painting technique is effective in reducing students’ academic stress. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan permasalahan tingginya tekanan stress akademik yang dialami siswa dan belum adanyapenanganan khusus disekolah,. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas Finger painting dalam mengurangi stress akademik siswa, metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kuantitatif, dengan metode Pra-Eksperimen dengan one group pretest-posttest design. Pengambilan sample penelitian menggunakan Teknik purposive sampling yang diperoleh 10 orang sample dengan kategori stress akademik tertinggi, yang kemudian diberikan treatment yang dilakukan selama delapan sesi konseling kelompok. Teknik analisis yang digunakan dalam pengujian hipotesis Adalah Wilcoxon signed rank test. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan adanya penurunan secara signifikan dari nilai rata-rata sebesar 76,6 menjadi 38,2. Analisis uji wilcoxon signed rank test pada proses pengambilan keputusan hipotesis, nilai 0,005 < 0,05 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis dinyatakan diterima. Dengan demikian Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa konseling kelompok dengan Teknik finger painting efektiv dalam mengurangi stress akademik siswa.
