Abstract
This research was conducted to determine the effect of simple teaching aids on students' learning motivation and cognitive abilities in the concept of viruses at SMA Negeri 1 Cikande. The study used quasi experimental method with pretest posttest control group design. The study population consisted of all X grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Cikande, while the sample was selected using random sampling technique. Class X B was the experimental class that used simple props, while class X I was the control class that used power point media. Data were collected through tests and questionnaires. Cognitive ability results were measured using multiple choice tests, while student motivation was measured using a Likert scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed using t-test with the help of SPSS software. The results showed that experimental class students obtained an average score of 71.7 in learning motivation and 70.6, pretest scores and 82.5 posttest scores of cognitive ability, while control class students obtained an average score of 67.7 in learning motivation and 66 pretest scores and 78.6 posttest scores of cognitive ability. The t-test results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of simple teaching aids has a significant positive impact on students' learning motivation and cognitive ability in the concept of viruses at SMA Negeri 1 Cikande.

| Additional Information: | Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menentukan pengaruh alat bantu pembelajaran sederhana terhadap motivasi belajar dan kemampuan kognitif siswa dalam konsep virus di SMA Negeri 1 Cikande. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi eksperimental dengan desain pretest posttest control group design. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Cikande, sedangkan sampel dipilih menggunakan teknik random sampling. Kelas X B merupakan kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan alat peraga sederhana, sedangkan kelas X I merupakan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan media power point. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes dan kuesioner. Hasil kemampuan kognitif diukur menggunakan tes pilihan ganda, sedangkan motivasi siswa diukur menggunakan kuesioner Skala Likert. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji t dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas eksperimen memperoleh skor rata-rata 71,7 dalam motivasi belajar dan 70,6, nilai pretest dan 82,5 nilai posttest kemampuan kognitif, sedangkan siswa kelas kontrol memperoleh skor rata-rata 67,7 dalam motivasi belajar dan 66 nilai pretest dan 78,6 nilai posttest kemampuan kognitif. Hasil uji t menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol (Sig. 0,000 < 0,05). Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan alat peraga sederhana memiliki dampak positif yang signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar dan kemampuan kognitif siswa dalam konsep virus di SMA Negeri 1 Cikande. | |||||||||
