Abstract
Devi Amelia. NIM 6662210201. Public Speaking Competence of Administrators in Building Self-Confidence of Members of the AKMI Untirta UKM Organization (Case Study on Recruiting New Members). Supervisor Dr. Neka Fitriyah, S.Sos., M.Si. Communication Science Study Program. Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University 2021. This study aims to determine the public speaking competence of the UKM AKMI Untirta administrators in the recruitment process of new members and their role in building member confidence. The focus of the study covers three aspects, namely the ability of administrators to persuade prospective new members, the competence of administrators in building self-confidence, and the public speaking techniques used during the coaching process. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Informants consisted of administrators and members of UKM AKMI Untirta involved in UMO activities. The results showed that the administrators implemented persuasive communication strategies through the use of relevant themes, storytelling, and adjusting messages to the characteristics of new students. In building self-confidence, the administrators used small practice forums, personal mentoring, and gradual role assignments. The results of the public speaking techniques used included training to overcome stage fright, vocal strengthening, and preparation through rehearsals. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kompetensi public speaking pengurus UKM AKMI Untirta dalam proses perekrutan anggota baru serta perannya dalam membangun kepercayaan diri anggota. Fokus penelitian mencakup tiga aspek, yaitu kemampuan pengurus dalam mempersuasi calon anggota baru, kompetensi pengurus dalam membangun kepercayaan diri, serta teknik public speaking yang digunakan selama proses pembinaan. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif deskripsif dengan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Infroman terdiri dari pengurus dan anggota UKM AKMI Untirta yang terlibat dalam kegiatan UMO. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengurus menerapkan strategi komunikasi persuasif melalui penggunaan tema releven, storytelling, dan penyesuaian pesan dengan karakteristik mahasiswa baru. Dalam membangun kepercayaan diri, pengurus menggunakan forum latihan kecil, pendampingan personal, dan pemberian peran secara bertahap. Hasil selanjunya teknik public speaking yang digunakan meliputi latihan mengatasi demam panggung, penguatan vokal, dan persiapan melalui gladi.
