Abstract
Sexual abuse against children does not only occur in the real world but also takes place through social media, where perpetrators approach victims through persuasion and deception so that the victims feel comfortable and develop trust. By gaining the confidence of children, perpetrators are able to persuade them to comply with their wishes, such as sending nude photographs via instant messaging applications or engaging in video calls. When victims refuse to continue sending such images, perpetrators may threaten to disseminate the previously obtained images on social media. This research examines the role of the police in providing legal protection for child victims of sexual abuse through social media, known as child cyber grooming, as well as the forms of legal protection afforded to these victims. The theories applied in this study are crime prevention theory and legal protection theory, using a normative juridical research method with statutory and case approaches. The data sources consist of secondary data supported by interview results as additional data, and the data collection techniques include literature study and interviews. The findings indicate that the police implement preventive measures such as cyber patrols, requests for the takedown of pornographic content, and public awareness campaigns, alongside repressive measures through investigation and prosecution to protect child victims of sexual abuse through social media. However, legal protection remains inadequate due to the limited availability of cyber experts, the failure to safeguard the confidentiality of children’s identities in court decisions, and the lack of cooperation between the Women and Children Protection Unit and the Cyber Unit or Ditressiber in providing victim assistance.

| Additional Information: | Pelecehan seksual terhadap anak tidak hanya terjadi di dunia nyata namau terjadi juga melalui media sosial, pelaku mendekati korban dengan rayuan serta tipu daya sehingga korban merasa nyaman dengan pelaku. Dengan mendapatkan kepercayaan dari korban yang masih anak-anak pelaku dapat meminta korban agar mau menuruti kemauan pelaku seperti mengirimkan foto tanpa busana melalui aplikasi pesan singkat atau melalukan video call. Jika korban tidak mau menuruti permintaan pelaku untuk mengirimkan foto tanpa busana lagi, pelaku dengan mudah akan mengancam korban dengan menyebarkan foto-foto tersebut ke sosial media. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimanakah peran kepolisian dalam perlindungan hukum terhadap anak korban tindak pidana pelecehan seksual melalui media sosial (child cyber grooming) dan bagaimana perlindungan hukum terhadap anak korban tindak pidana pelecehan seksual melalui media sosial (child cyber grooming). Teori yang digunakan adalah teori penanggulangan kejahatan dan teori perlindungan hukum. Metode yang digunakan adalah yuridis normatif. pendekatan penelitian menggunakan pendekatan perundang-undangan dan pendekatan kasus. Sumber datanya adalah data sekunder dan ditambah data hasil wawancara sebagai data tambahan serta teknik pengumpulan datanya adalah studi pustaka dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pihak kepolisian menggunakan upaya preventif, seperti patroli siber, permohanan takedown konten pornografi, dan sosialisasi, serta upaya represif melalui penyelidikan dan penyidikan untuk melindungi anak korban pelecehan seksual melalui media sosial (child cyber grooming). Namun, perlindungan hukum masih belum optimal karena keterbatasan tenaga ahli siber, tidak dijaganya kerahasiaan identitas anak dalam putusan serta kurangnya kerja sama antara Unit Perlindungan Perempuan dan Anak (PPA) dengan Unit Siber atau Ditressiber dalam pendampingan korban. | |||||||||
