Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) yang mengintegrasikan konteks Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi Termokimia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Pre-Experimental dengan desain One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPA 4 SMAN 11 Kota Tangerang Selatan Tahun Pelajaran 2023/2024. Materi Termokimia dalam penelitian ini dikaitkan dengan isu Global Warming sebagai konteks SSI. Indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis yang diukur mengacu pada teori Robert H. Ennis, yang meliputi: Memfokuskan pertanyaan, Mempertimbangkan kredibilitas suatu sumber, Membuat dan menentukan pertimbangan, Menginduksi dan mempertimbangkan hasil induksi, serta Mempertimbangkan istilah dan mempertimbangkan suatu definisi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif yang signifikan dari penerapan model Problem Based Learning yang mengintegrasikan konteks Socio- Scientific Issues (SSI) terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik pada materi Termokimia. Hal ini didukung oleh hasil uji statistik Paired Sample T-Test yang memperoleh nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05, yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil pre-test dan post-test setelah perlakuan. Peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik dibuktikan pula dengan perolehan nilai N-Gain yang masuk dalam kategori tinggi dan sedang. Secara keseluruhan, rata-rata persentase nilai indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di kelas eksperimen mencapai 84,18%, yang berada dalam kategori bagus sekali. Dengan demikian, model PBL yang diintegrasikan dengan konteks SSI terbukti efektif dalam mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada pembelajaran Termokimia.

| Additional Information: | This research aims to determine the effect of applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model integrated with the context of Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) on students' critical thinking ability in Thermochemistry material. This research used a Pre- Experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects were students of class XI Science 4 at SMAN 11 South Tangerang City in the 2023/2024 Academic Year. The Thermochemistry material in this study was linked to the issue of Global Warming as the SSI context. The measured indicators of critical thinking ability refer to Robert H. Ennis's theory, including: Focusing the question, Considering the credibility of a source, Making and determining judgments, Inducing and considering the results of induction, and Considering terms and a definition. The results showed that there was a significant positive effect of applying the Problem Based Learning model integrating the context of Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) on the improvement of students' critical thinking ability in Thermochemistry material. This is supported by the results of the Paired Sample T-Test statistical test, which obtained a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, meaning there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results after the treatment. The improvement in students' critical thinking ability was also proven by the N- Gain score obtained, which fell into the high and moderate categories. Overall, the average percentage score of the critical thinking ability indicators in the experimental class reached 84.18%, which is in the very good category. Thus, the PBL model integrated with the SSI context proved effective in developing students' critical thinking skills in Thermochemistry learning. | |||||||||
