Abstract
This study investigates the effect of case-based learning on improving the critical thinking skills of vocational high school (SMK) students in trigonometry. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: X PPLG 2 as the experimental group, which received learning through the Case-Based Learning model, and X PPLG 1 as the control group, which was taught using conventional methods. Each class consisted of 30 students. The research was conducted in one of vocational school in Banten Province. Data were collected using a test of critical-thinking skills in the form of five validated essay questions administered before and after the learning intervention. Data analysis was carried out using an independent t-test after confirming that the data met the assumptions of normality and homogeneity. The findings indicate a significant difference between the two groups. The experimental group achieved an average posttest score of 86.50, while the control group obtained an average of 80.66. Hypothesis testing N-Gain showed a Sig. (2 tailed) value of 0.200, which is lower than 0.05, indicating that case-based learning has a statistically significant effect on students’ critical-thinking skills. Overall, the results demonstrate that implementing case-based learning can enhance students’ ability to analyze problems, draw logical conclusions, and apply concepts more effectively compared to conventional learning approaches.

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi-eksperimental dengan desain pretest–posttest control group. Sampel terdiri dari dua kelas: X PPLG 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen yang menerima pembelajaran dengan model Case-Based Learning, dan X PPLG 1 sebagai kelas kontrol yang diajar menggunakan metode konvensional. Setiap kelas berjumlah 30 siswa. Penelitian dilaksanakan di salah satu SMK di Provinsi Banten. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes keterampilan berpikir kritis berupa lima soal esai yang telah divalidasi dan diberikan sebelum serta sesudah perlakuan pembelajaran. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji t independen setelah data memenuhi asumsi normalitas dan homogenitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok. Kelas eksperimen memperoleh skor rata-rata posttest sebesar 86,50, sedangkan kelas kontrol memperoleh rata-rata 80,66. Uji T N-Gain menunjukkan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0.200, yang lebih kecil dari 0.05, sehingga menandakan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis kasus berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Secara keseluruhan, hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran berbasis kasus dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menganalisis masalah, menarik kesimpulan logis, serta menerapkan konsep secara lebih efektif dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional. | |||||||||
