Abstract

This study aims to develop and implement a learning design on the topic of lines and angles using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by GeoGebra for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Kragilan, Serang Regency. The background of this research lies in students’ low understanding of geometric concepts, particularly lines and angles, as well as the need for innovative learning approaches that can help students visualize and comprehend these concepts more deeply. The PBL model was chosen because it guides students to discover concepts through contextual problem solving, while GeoGebra serves as an interactive tool for exploring geometric relationships. This research employed a design research approach consisting of three main stages: the design phase, teaching experiment, and retrospective analysis. The learning design was developed through two cycles, where the results of the first cycle were used to refine the next one. The learning activities were designed to help students connect real-life problems with the concepts of lines and angles. Activities included identifying types of angles through clock contexts, exploring relationships among angles using GeoGebra, and solving problems involving parallel lines cut by a transversal. Data were collected through observations, video recordings, students’ worksheets, interviews, pre-test, and post-test. The results show that implementing the GeoGebra-assisted PBL model enhanced students’ conceptual understanding. Students became more active in discussions, reasoned more logically, and used GeoGebra to verify and strengthen their understanding of angle relationships.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan menerapkan desain pembelajaran materi garis dan sudut menggunakan model Problem-Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan GeoGebra bagi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Kragilan, Kabupaten Serang. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep geometri, khususnya garis dan sudut, serta perlunya inovasi pembelajaran yang memfasilitasi visualisasi dan pemahaman konsep secara mendalam. Model PBL dipilih karena menuntun siswa menemukan konsep melalui pemecahan masalah kontekstual, sedangkan GeoGebra digunakan untuk membantu eksplorasi konsep geometri secara interaktif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan design research yang meliputi tiga tahap, yaitu design phase, teaching experiment, dan retrospective analysis. Desain pembelajaran dikembangkan melalui dua siklus, dengan hasil siklus pertama digunakan untuk penyempurnaan pada siklus berikutnya. Kegiatan pembelajaran dirancang agar siswa dapat mengaitkan masalah kontekstual dengan konsep garis dan sudut. Aktivitas meliputi identifikasi jenis sudut melalui konteks jam, eksplorasi hubungan antar sudut dengan GeoGebra, serta pemecahan masalah pada dua garis sejajar yang dipotong garis transversal. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, rekaman video, hasil kerja siswa, wawancara, pre-test, dan post-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL berbantuan GeoGebra meningkatkan pemahaman konseptual siswa. Siswa lebih aktif berdiskusi, mampu berargumen secara logis, dan menggunakan GeoGebra untuk memverifikasi serta memperkuat pemahaman hubungan antar sudut.
