Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of local wisdom in managing rice commodities to achieve food self-sufficiency among the baduy indigenous community as a strategy for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study uses a qualitative descriptive method supported by quantitative analysis through the calculation of the Food Self-Sufficiency Index (KP) obtained from production and consumption data. The research was conducted in Kanekes Village, Leuwidamar District, Lebak Regency, Banten Province, using purposive sampling of five respondents consisting of Inner and Outer Baduy farmers. The analysis shows that the average rice production reached 510 kg per household per year, while the average consumption was 444 kg per year, resulting in a Food Self-Sufficiency Index of 1.13. This indicates that all respondents were in a surplus condition and independent in food production. The Baduy farming system, known as huma–leuit, combines dryland cultivation with long-term storage, enabling sustainable food security without external inputs. These practices are aligned with SDG 2 (Anti Kelaparan), SDG 12 (Konsumsi dan Produksi yang Bertanggung Jawab), and SDG 15 (Ekosistem Daratan). The Baduy’s local wisdom represents a living model of community-based sustainable agriculture that ensures food resilience, ecological balance, and social harmony.

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif yang didukung oleh analisis kuantitatif melalui perhitungan Indeks Kemandirian Pangan (KP) berdasarkan data produksi dan konsumsi. Penelitian dilakukan di Desa Kanekes, Kecamatan Leuwidamar, Kabupaten Lebak, Provinsi Banten, dengan metode purposive sampling terhadap lima responden yang terdiri dari petani Baduy Dalam dan Baduy Luar. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa produksi padi rata-rata mencapai 510 kg per rumah tangga per tahun, sedangkan konsumsi rata-rata sebesar 444 kg per tahun, sehingga menghasilkan Indeks Kemandirian Pangan sebesar 1,13 yang menunjukkan kondisi surplus dan mandiri dalam produksi pangan. Sistem pertanian Baduy yang dikenal sebagai huma–leuit mengintegrasikan budidaya padi lahan kering dengan penyimpanan jangka panjang, sehingga mampu mendukung kemandirian pangan yang berkelanjutan tanpa ketergantungan pada input eksternal. Praktik ini relevan dengan pencapaian SDG 2 (Anti Kelaparan), SDG 12 (Konsumsi dan Produksi yang Bertanggung Jawab), dan SDG 15 (Ekosistem Daratan).
