Abstract
Many students still experience difficulties in expressing their opinions or arguments in public, which affects their ability to speak effectively. This condition indicates the need for more varied and interactive learning models to create a learning environment that encourages active student participation. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Talking Stick and Storytelling learning models, as well as to determine the difference in effectiveness between the two models in improving speaking skills. This research employed a quantitative quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with class VIII D as the experimental group and class VIII C as the control group. The research data consisted of students’ speaking test results, which were analyzed using SPSS version 20. The results of the study showed that the average posttest score of the class using the talking stick model was 76.89, while the class using the storytelling model was 74.25. Although descriptively the talking stick learning model produced a higher increase, the results of the N-Gain Score test analysis showed an average value of 0.081, there was no statistically significant difference between the two learning models, meaning that the talking stick and storytelling learning models had relatively the same effectiveness in improving the speaking skills of class VIII students of SMPN 18 Kota Serang. The conclusion descriptively is that the talking stick learning model is superior, but the results of the N-Gain Score test show that the talking stick and storytelling learning models have the same effectiveness in improving the speaking skills of class VIII students of SMPN 18 Kota Serang.

Kondisi tersebut menunjukkan perlunya penerapan model pembelajaran yang lebih variatif dan interaktif guna menciptakan suasana belajar yang mendorong partisipasi aktif siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penggunaan model pembelajaran talking stick dan storytelling, serta perbedaan keefektifan antara model pembelajaran talking stick dan storytelling terhadap keterampilan berbicara. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif Quasi experiment bentuk desain Nonequivalen Control Group Design. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan Purposive Sampling, kelas VIII D sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII C sebagai kelas kontrol. Data penelitian berupa tes hasil berbicara siswa, yang dianalisis menggunakan SPSS versi 20. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata nilai posttest kelas yang menggunakan model talking stick sebesar 76,89, sedangkan kelas yang menggunakan model storytelling sebesar 74,25, Meskipun secara deskriptif model pembelajaran talking stick menghasilkan peningkatan yang lebih tinggi, hasil analisis uji N-Gain Score menunjukkan nilai rata-rata 0,081, tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan secara statistik antara kedua model pembelajaran, berarti model pembelajaran talking stick dan storytelling memiliki keefektifan yang relatif sama dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas VIII SMPN 18 Kota Serang. Simpulan secara deskriptif model pembelajaran talking stick lebih unggul, namun hasil pengujian N-Gain Score menunjukkan antara model pembelajaran talking stick dan storytelling memiliki keefektifan yang sama untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas VIII SMPN 18 Kota Serang. | |||||||||
