Abstract
In the manufacturing industry, high-precision material cutting technology is a key factor in improving production efficiency and the quality of final products. One of the most widely used methods is CNC (Computer Numerical Control) laser cutting, which enables material cutting with a high level of accuracy and shorter processing time compared to conventional methods. In the industrial sector, technological advancements, including CNC laser cutting machines, have brought significant transformations to material cutting processes, particularly in metal fabrication. One major innovation is the improvement in cutting precision and speed, where fiber lasers in CNC laser machines are more efficient than CO₂ lasers in handling various metal thicknesses, while high-definition plasma technology allows for more accurate cutting compared to conventional plasma systems. PT Krakatau Baja Konstruksi, as a company operating in the steel industry, relies on CNC laser cutting technology for fabrication and the production of steel components. One of the main components in a CNC laser cutting system is the laser head, which plays a crucial role in determining the quality of the cutting results. One commonly used model is the Raytools BM111 Laser Head, which is known for its high performance in steel-based material cutting. However, in practical applications, the performance of this laser head can be influenced by various factors such as cutting parameters, laser power, gas pressure, and the condition of the material being cut. Therefore, analyzing the performance of the Raytools BM111 Laser Head is essential to ensure optimal cutting quality. In this study, an analysis of the performance of the Raytools BM111 Laser Head on cutting quality in a CNC laser cutting machine at PT Krakatau Baja Konstruksi is conducted. This analysis includes the evaluation of cutting parameters, dimensional accuracy, surface smoothness of the cut, and the influence of various operational variables on cutting performance. The results of this study are expected to provide recommendations for optimizing the use of the laser head to improve production efficiency and product quality in the steel industry.
