Abstract

Rapid technological advancements have led to an increasing demand for air transportation, requiring the aviation industry to comply with very high safety standards. Every aircraft component must be maintained in optimal condition to ensure flight safety and comfort. Therefore, regular maintenance and repair programs conducted in accordance with applicable regulations are essential factors in maintaining aircraft reliability. PT Garuda Maintenance Facility AeroAsia Tbk (GMF AeroAsia) is a world-class Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) company that plays a significant role in aircraft maintenance and repair services and has obtained certifications from various international aviation authorities. This study focuses on the slat component, which is located at the leading edge of the wing and functions to increase lift and prevent stall, particularly at high angles of attack and low airspeeds. Due to its position, which is directly exposed to aerodynamic loads and environmental factors, the slat is susceptible to structural damage such as dents, cracks, corrosion, and deformation. Therefore, appropriate repair methods are required to maintain structural reliability and extend the service life of the aircraft. One of the repair methods applied is the doubler repair on slat sheet metal, which is a structural repair technique involving the installation of a reinforcing plate over the damaged area without replacing the entire component. This process requires careful damage evaluation, proper repair design planning, and precise execution in accordance with the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) and aviation safety regulations.
