Abstract
The setup process in the Premium Line of PT XYZ requires 5–7 hours, reducing production efficiency and limiting the company’s ability to meet demand. This condition is caused by fully internal setup activities, unbalanced task distribution, improper chuck specifications, and the absence of supporting documents. This study aims to identify root causes using Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), formulate improvements through the 5W + 1H method, and redesign the setup process using the Single Minutes Exchange of Dies (SMED) method, supported by Gantt Chart simulation. The results indicate key issues related to tool readiness, task allocation, and setup structure. The application of SMED and visual tools such as chuck modification and setup guidance simplifies the workflow and significantly reduces setup time. This research provides effective improvement proposals to enhance setup efficiency in the Premium Line.
