Abstract
This study investigates the effectiveness of using VOA video lessons “Let’s Learn English with Anna” to improve the speaking skills of seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Pabuaran through a qualitative case study utilizing observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The findings indicate that the learning process became more structured and interactive, with the videos effectively enhancing students’ pronunciation, vocabulary, and fluency while promoting active classroom participation. Students showed positive responses, demonstrated by increased motivation, enthusiasm, and confidence in speaking English as they engaged with the multimodal and contextual input provided by the videos. Nonetheless, several challenges emerged, including limited vocabulary, the fast pacing of the video materials, and occasional technical issues that affected the flow of learning. In conclusion, the use of VOA video lessons is effective in supporting students’ speaking skill development and classroom engagement, yet it requires additional scaffolding and improved technical readiness to optimize its implementation. | Additional Information: | Penelitian ini mengkaji efektivitas penggunaan video pelajaran VOA “Let’s Learn English with Anna” dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas VII di SMPN 1 Pabuaran melalui studi kasus kualitatif yang memanfaatkan observasi, wawancara, kuesioner, dan dokumentasi. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran menjadi lebih terstruktur dan interaktif, dengan video secara efektif meningkatkan pengucapan, kosakata, dan kelancaran berbicara siswa sambil mendorong partisipasi aktif di kelas. Siswa menunjukkan respons positif, ditandai dengan peningkatan motivasi, antusiasme, dan kepercayaan diri dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris saat berinteraksi dengan masukan multimodal dan kontekstual yang disediakan oleh video. Namun, beberapa tantangan muncul, termasuk kosakata yang terbatas, kecepatan materi video yang cepat, dan masalah teknis sesekali yang mengganggu alur pembelajaran.
