Abstract
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Drill method in learning the song “Syukur” composed by H. Mutahar for ninth-grade students of class IX-D at SMP Negeri 1 Tirtayasa. The background of this research is based on the need to improve students’ vocal skills through a systematic, structured, and repetitive learning approach. This study employs Classroom Action Research (CAR) with two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were 32 students of class IX-D. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, questionnaires, singing performance tests, and documentation, while data analysis used a qualitative descriptive approach. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Drill method significantly improved students’ singing abilities, including vocal quality, intonation, articulation, and expression. In addition, the method positively influenced students’ affective aspects, such as increasing enthusiasm, self- confidence, and active participation throughout the learning process. Thus, the Drill method is proven effective as a learning strategy in music education, particularly in teaching national songs that contain character and moral values. | Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk efektivitas metode Drill dalam pembelajaran lagu “Syukur” karya H. Mutahar pada siswa kelas IX-D SMP Negeri 1 Tirtayasa. Latar belakang penelitian didasari oleh kebutuhan peningkatan keterampilan vokal siswa melalui pendekatan pembelajaran yang sistematis, terstruktur, dan berulang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan dua siklus, yang masing-masing terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah 32 siswa kelas IX - D. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, angket, tes praktik menyanyi, serta dokumentasi, sedangkan analisis data menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode drill memberikan peningkatan yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan menyanyi siswa, baik dari aspek vokal, intonasi, artikulasi, maupun penghayatan lagu. Selain itu, metode ini juga berdampak positif pada aspek afektif siswa, seperti meningkatnya antusiasme, rasa percaya diri, dan partisipasi aktif selama pembelajaran berlangsung. Dengan demikian, metode drill terbukti efektif sebagai strategi pembelajaran seni musik, khususnya dalam pembelajaran lagu nasional yang mengandung nilai karakter dan moral pendidikan.
