Abstract

This study aims to determine students’ perceptions of using Twitter for learning English vocabulary at the high school level. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with 87 11th-grade students from SMAIT Putri Al Hanif. The instruments used were a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview, both containing questions about students’ experiences, opinions, and feelings about Twitter as a learning medium. The results showed that the majority of students felt Twitter was very effective in helping them learn English vocabulary because of its flexibility, affordability, and interactivity. Based on these results, it can be concluded that using Twitter as a learning medium can improve students’ vocabulary mastery. Therefore, the use of social media in education can be an effective alternative in language learning.
