Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of digital money, transaction volume, inflation, per capita income, and interest rates on the Velocity of Money in eight Asian countries (Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, China, India) for the period 2009-2024. Using panel data with the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) model, this study aims to understand the dynamics of money circulation in the digital era. The results of this analysis indicate that in the long term the variables Digital Money, Inflation, Per Capita Income and Interest Rates have a negative and significant effect, while transaction volume has a positive and significant effect on the Velocity of Money. The results of the short-term estimation show that the variables Digital Money, Transaction Volume and Per Capita Income do not have a significant effect on the Velocity of Money. However, the variables Inflation and Interest Rates have an effect on the Velocity Of Money. These findings provide important implications for monetary policy and economic management amidst the digital transformation in Asia..
