Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effects of different types of growing media and concentrations of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) from kepok banana stem on the growth and yield of batik spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) within an aquaponic system. This research was conducted from October 2024 to May 2025 in the screenhouse at Bekasi City. The experiment used a factorial randomized block design (RBD) with two factors and three replications. The first factors was the type of growing media: Soil (M0), Rice husk charcoal (M1), (M2) Cocopeat, (M3) Rockwool, (M4) Rice husk charcoal + Zeolite, (M5) Hidroton + Cocopeat. The second factor is LOF concentration of banana stem based: 0 ml/l (V0), 10 ml/l (V1), 15 ml/l (V2). The results showed that the two factors had significantly influenced several growth parameters, such as: plant height (M2V2), leaf number (M4V1), root length (M5V2), and fresh shoot weight (M4V2). Thus, the aquaponic system supported by appropriate growing media and LOF concentrations could be an effective and sustainable farming method for optimizing the growth and yield of batik spinach.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh berbagai jenis media tanam dan konsentrasi pupuk organik cair (POC) berbahan dasar batang pisang kepok terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil bayam batik (Amaranthus tricolor L.) dalam sistem akuaponik. Peneliitian ini dilaksanakan pada Oktober 2024 hingga Mei 2025 di screenhouse, Kota Bekasi. Rancangan percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompokan (RAK) faktorial dengan dua faktor dan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah jenis media tanam, yaitu tanah (M0), arang sekam (M1), cocopeat (M2), rockwool (M3), arang sekam+zeolit (M4), serta hidroton+cocopeat (M5). Fakor kedua adalah konsentrasi POC batang pisang kepok: 0 ml/l (V0), 10 ml/l (V1), dan 15 ml/l (V2). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi kedua faktor berpengaruh nyata terhadap beberapa parameter pertumbuhan, yaitu tinggi tanaman (arang sekam dan 15 ml/l (M2V2)), jumlah daun (arang sekam+zeolit dan 10 ml/l (M4V1)), panjang akar (hidroton+cocopeat dan 15 ml/l (M5V2)), dan bobot segar tajuk (arang sekam+zeolit dan 15 ml/l (M4V2). Dengan demikian, sistem akuaponik yang didukung oleh media tanam dan konsentrasi POC yang tepat dapat menjadi metode budidaya yang efektif dan berkelanjutan untuk mengoptimalkan pertumbuhan serta hasil bayam batik (Amaranthus tricolor L.).
