Abstract

This study aims to determine the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model in improving the activeness and learning outcomes of class XI students at SMK Negeri 4 Serang City in the subject of Vehicle Electricity. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which is implemented in two cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects consisted of 30 class XI students of Automotive Light Vehicle Engineering (TKRO). The instruments used were observation sheets to assess student activeness and learning outcome tests to measure material understanding. Data analysis was carried out descriptively to determine the increase in student activeness and learning outcomes in each cycle. The results of the study showed an increase in student activeness and learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I, the average student activeness score reached 66% and in cycle II increased by 12% to 78%. Meanwhile, the average student learning outcome score in cycle I reached 70% and increased to 83% in cycle II. This achievement meets the research success indicators, namely a minimum of 75% of students are active in learning and a minimum of 80% of students achieve complete learning outcomes. Thus, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model is effective in increasing the activeness and learning outcomes of class XI students in the Vehicle Electricity subject at SMK Negeri 4 Serang City.

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, setiap siklus terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 30 siswa kelas XI Teknik Kendaraan Ringan Otomotif (TKRO). Instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar observasi untuk menilai keaktifan siswa dan tes hasil belajar untuk mengukur pemahaman materi. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif untuk mengetahui peningkatan keaktifan dan hasil belajar siswa pada setiap siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keaktifan dan hasil belajar siswa dari siklus I ke siklus II. Pada siklus I, rata-rata skor keaktifan siswa mencapai 66% dan pada siklus II meningkat 12% menjadi 78%. Sementara itu, rata-rata nilai hasil belajar siswa pada siklus I mencapai 70% dan meningkat menjadi 83% pada siklus II. Pencapaian tersebut memenuhi indikator keberhasilan penelitian, yaitu minimal 75% siswa aktif dalam pembelajaran dan minimal 80% siswa mencapai ketuntasan hasil belajar. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) efektif dalam meningkatkan keaktifan dan hasil belajar siswa kelas XI pada mata pelajaran Kelistrikan Kendaraan di SMK Negeri 4 Kota Serang.
