Abstract

This study aims to develop Android-based science games as learning media on the interaction between ecosystem components for seventh-grade junior high school students. The main problem identified is the low level of students' conceptual understanding due to the limitations of learning media, which are still simple and lack interactivity. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) with a modified ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) development model. The product, an educational game, was designed using the Unity platform, utilizing avatars, images, sounds, and videos to make learning more interesting and suitable for students' learning styles. The discovery learning model was chosen to support students' independent exploration so that they would be more active in discovering concepts. Validation was carried out by media experts, subject matter experts, and education practitioners, and the results showed a “highly valid” rating. Trials with junior high school students received a “very good” response and showed an increase in learning outcomes above the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). Thus, these Android-based science games are suitable for use as effective interactive learning media to improve students' understanding of ecosystem concepts.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran berupa science games berbasis Android pada materi interaksi antar komponen penyusun ekosistem bagi siswa kelas VII SMP. Permasalahan utama yang diidentifikasi adalah rendahnya pemahaman konsep siswa akibat keterbatasan media pembelajaran yang masih sederhana dan kurang interaktif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE (analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi) yang dimodifikasi. Produk berupa game edukasi dirancang menggunakan platform Unity dengan memanfaatkan unsur avatar, gambar, suara, dan video agar pembelajaran lebih menarik dan sesuai dengan gaya belajar siswa. Model discovery learning dipilih untuk mendukung eksplorasi mandiri siswa sehingga mereka lebih aktif dalam menemukan konsep. Validasi dilakukan oleh ahli media, ahli materi, serta praktisi pendidikan, dan hasilnya menunjukkan kategori “sangat valid”. Uji coba terhadap siswa SMP memperoleh respon “sangat baik” dan peningkatan hasil belajar di atas Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). Dengan demikian, science games berbasis Android ini layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran interaktif yang efektif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa tentang ekosistem.
